Apart from being the root of the modern Naboo Monarchy, the Varannian Queens established many royal traditions that persist among the kings and queens of Naboo today. These include, of course, the appointment of royal attendants, drawn directly from the attendant deities that accompany the major gods of the Naboo pantheon.

He had even begun to pick up their words, to thank them, to ask them questions, to weave kind phrases. It hadn't surprised Mother that some of her younger Daughters thought to share the Shadow with him. Yet she had no need to forbid it, as even these Daughters knew that they could not.
