Summary
“I don't think you're one of my strays,” the man says. Kaeya startles a little at the rasp of his voice, lurching backwards only to remember where he is a second later, leaning back in with an arm over the man’s throat to overcompensate. He takes a little satisfaction in the way the man chokes at the added pressure. He’s disgruntled when the stranger continues to grin, and Kaeya gets the sudden impression that the choking noise was simply to satisfy him and not because the man felt any threat.
“I'm not a stray,” he retorts hotly, remembering that the man had insulted him only moments prior.
“Are you not?” The man speaks easily, only confirming Kaeya's suspicions that the wheeze was simply to play into the role of a submissive captive, and not because the man’s airways were actually at risk of harm.

The guardsman shakes his head, “No, sir. The citizens all have alibis, and the sisters can vouch for those taking shelter in the cathedral. Those that aren’t accounted for still haven’t been found.”
The Captain turns on his heel and strides into the small gathering of graves. For the longest time, it eluded him why such a large city had so few burials until he was told that, traditionally, most of the dead are burned, their ashes scattered in the breeze. The ones who opt for a resting place in the ground are usually the old families of nobility, whose storied histories remember a time when the wind was not their friend.
It would suit, then, that a grave robber would target this place.
(Following a sudden earthquake and simultaneous mass graverobbing, the Cavalry Captain Kaeya finds himself to be losing his mind.)

The wind was strong, threatening, and aggressive. It appeared that the Anemo Archon did not like the monster he had become. He was doomed to wander around Mondstadt, slowly forgetting who he was.
The rain began to fall, trying to purify his corrupted soul...
The only thing it did was to lengthen his suffering, and the lucid moments were his torment; one moment, he remembered his past, and the next, he did not know who he was, what his mission was, and who his family was.
He heard something metallic fall from his hands, and when he turned to the ground, he saw the vision that had accompanied him since the day the monster forgot everything, but he would never forget the warm light emanating from the gem. The owner of that vision must have been his family; he always maintained a constant warmth for a reason.
Where would the owner of this vision be? He was supposed to be with him. They were never supposed to be separated; he was supposed to forget.
But for this creature, his ordeal was to remember, to forget over and over and over again, even though the light never forgot him. He knew his family had a name, and his mind could only remember the name "Luc."
