Sure, he had agreed to accompany his classmate, Trinity Glassfille, to help her out with the specifications of their latest assignment. Actually, it was a two person project on the importance of using Magic and how Alchemy has evolved in the last decade. Or the other option was compiling a thorough case study on Ishana's mythical beasts and legends.

"So you really think mer people aren't real?" A voice hummed behind a coy smile, at least that's what Youichi thought he heard as he felt the hairs on his back grow still. He'd been kicking along a random piece of rock along the shoreline, not at all minding the way the waves rocked against the shoreline. There were countless times Kuramochi came down here to let his thoughts wander, though this was the first time he was met with a mysterious visitor. Much less one that seemed to read his mind...or his thoughts.

Sure he used to go off on his own to explore the woods to escape his lessons, but there shouldn't be a reason to do so now that they were approaching their wedding day. Where could he have gone off to?

Ryousuke took the moment to marvel how easy it was to fall back into the same rhythm of long ago. His gaze looked to be in considerable concentration before turning his head ever so slowly to the oni masked man. It was so familiar that he almost gave himself away, biting his bottom lip quickly as he turned to look up into the tree before the nostalgic response could escape him. His body froze however as the fox maiden became aware that there was no doubt about it. This was the oni from back then. Ryou snapped his head to face him, his irises opening in shock. For a moment or two, he forgot how to breathe. His hand began to reach up involuntarily to cradle the oni's mask. Why was his hands trembling? Shaking as if he couldn't bring himself to take the mask off him. Ryou wanted so badly to pull it off of him and yet, he was scared to see if his assumptions were correct. That this was Kuramochi from the feudal era, the time of the most feared oni's that ever ruled this land.

Inseparable: Strings of Fate is a yokai spirit / God AU inspired by asian folklore and influenced by Mo Dao Zu Shi (MDZS). The story centers around a Cat God, Takashi Shirogane and a fallen fox spirit God, Matthew Holt. Matt has no memories of the past, but Shiro on the other hand was left with bits and pieces. Together, along with the help of Pidge, they start to figure out their lost past and hopefully find a way to return Matt to his former self…or will he forever be reincarnated as a human on Earth?
