Luffy sits on the clamshell bed by Sanji’s feet, waiting beside the drip-feed of blood for him to finally wake up again, and swishes his hand through the air. The mermaid quintuplets’ bubble life-rings are slippery against his fingers, their curly hair and shiny tails ticklish as they giggle and dart around his hand like minnows in a tide pool. One slaps her tail fin onto his cheek with a mischievous grin before speeding away. Nika, he thinks, the blonde one. Reflexively, he grabs her tail and yanks her back— shriek!
Her sisters all gasp and start slapping his hand, his cheeks, his eyes, anywhere at all they can reach.
“Hey, you big meanie, how’d you like it if I yanked your toes!”

The large dome he held up brushes the leaves of the bush above it, a cluster of berries droop and fall to the floor, and everything explodes into a cloud of iridescent shimmer.

Summary
Sanji and Usopp have been dating for almost a month, now, and while it hasn't always been easy - Sanji being Sanji - they're still almost grotesquely in love and take any chance they can get to be alone together. Just to cuddle, of course. Maybe kiss a little. It's hard to get any privacy on the Sunny, after all. But a month - that's a significant amount of time, and Usopp is trying to gauge whether his boyfriend might be interested in anything more.
A very fluffy, romantic, and not-unpleasantly schmaltzy fic about Sanji and Usopp's first time together. The first half is SFW, with Usopp reflecting on how they got to that point and a lottt of sugar, and it's easy to tell where the tone starts to transition to explicit content, for anyone who just wants to read some good old SanUso romance but leave it at that.
