Summary
The conference itself would’ve been bad enough on its own. Three days in Virginia Beach with physicians from across the East Coast attending lectures and networking events and social hours that nobody actually wanted to participate in. But no, PTMC had also agreed to some commemorative panel recognizing the one-year anniversary of Pittfest.
Meaning Robby somehow ended up scheduled the next day to accept a departmental honor recognizing “exceptional leadership and emergency response coordination during mass casualty management.” There would apparently also be a plaque. A shiny new plaque to hang in the ED. Because nothing helped process collective trauma like polished wood and engraved brass.
Or, Robby is selected to sit on a conference panel commemorating Pittfest and accept an award on behalf of PTMC. (Inspired by the photo of Noah Wyle looking *lovingly* at a picture of Gerran/Dennis)

It’s inconvenient, at first, having to take the bus everywhere now that he was completely unaligned with Trinity, but then Dr. Abbot starts to offer to take him home. And then to breakfast before he takes him home. And then just to his own home to sleep instead of his apartment with Trinity. And then, the next thing Dennis realizes, when Abbot kisses him, is that he might be dating Dr. Abbot.

Summary
Dennis finds himself driving a rented Jeep Wrangler through a small beach town in northern Italy, on his first ever adult vacation and his first time outside of the U.S. full stop. He can't stop smiling to himself even with the jetlag. As he merges off a roundabout, he pulls into a large parking lot outside the shopping district. He's eager to check out the shops, maybe grab his first gelato of the trip, but food is the priority; he hasn't eaten anything since his shitty airplane meal and that had been hours ago.
He picks a place at random; he's starving and he figures the trattoria filled with chatting patrons on the patio should be a safe bet. He shyly nods when the hostess asks him if he'd a like a table for one in her slightly accented English.
Just as he's about to sit down, he hears a startlingly familiar voice from behind him.
"Holy shit. Whitaker?"
Dennis whips his head around— and, yep. A very sunkissed Dr. Michael Robinovitch, wearing aviator sunglasses and a loose linen button-down is staring at him in disbelief.

Summary
“I put in 1095, but it won’t turn off!” Dennis shrieks, trying to be heard over the sound of the alarm. He knows that he didn’t get the numbers wrong because he’s staring right at them on the crumpled sticky note. “What am I doing wrong?”
“Did you push the off button?”
Dennis looks at the keypad, not seeing anything that says Off. “What?!”
“Put the code in and push the pound sign after.”
Dennis does as he’s told, except, in his panic, he hits the asterisk instead. “Shit.”
“It’s the hashtag,” Robby says, sounding entirely put out.
“I know what a pound sign is,” Dennis grumbles, hitting the button and noticing the word Off in the smallest font known to man under the #.

Unwilling to stay in California he sets off for Pennsylvania to find his older half-brother who he hasn't seen since he was little. Of course nothing ever goes he hopes and he ends up bleeding in an alley. Luckily for him he is found by a very tired Dennis Whitaker who makes sure he doesn't die there. They get attached, and if we are being honest co-dependent, very quickly.

Summary

Dennis ends up saying something that makes Robby have a change of heart.

Summary
Whitaker pulls up short of actually making contact with him, but Robby swears he feels a breath on his arm, and he lowers it before Whitaker can spot the way it sends goosebumps rippling up to his shoulder.
“You need something?”
No.
“That depends,” Robby finds himself saying instead. “Are you busy tonight?”
Robby watches something akin to the five stages of grief flicker across Whitaker’s face in the space of a second. Whitaker settles on a huge grin.
“Yeah,” he breathes. “I mean, no. Yes! I mean – no, I’m not busy, and yes, I’d like to go out with you.”
Oh, fuck.OR: Robby decides he needs Whitaker to move into his house before he can let himself off the hook. He tries to arrange this, and accidentally asks him on a date. Shenanigans ensue.
