In the kitchen, he pauses before rifling through the cabinets, finding the honey and eventually putting a pot of water to boil on the stove. As much as Dean hated the stuff, he’d once confided in Sam that it was pretty good when he was stuck without Cas on heats, and so Sam taught himself to brew tea, just in case.
Looks like it was finally going to be used after all.

There’s another silence, this one seeming to bear down on Dean too, and he finds himself gripping his pen tighter as he waits for the inevitable answer.
“I… I think Cas is cheating on you.” Sam says it all at once, tumbling out of his mouth like he’s almost afraid of the reaction that it would cause. Dean pauses, fingers tensing before he lets go of the pen, letting it clatter to the desk. Sam’s voice breaks, and it takes Dean a moment to remember that while Sam and Cas might not be friends, Sam liked Cas the most out of all the guys Dean’s dated and this must’ve been hurting him as much as he expected it to hurt Dean.

“It doesn’t matter now anyway,” John interrupts. “I need to talk to you about something,” his eyes flit back to Jess. “Alone.”
“No,” Sam steps back, winds an arm around her waist. He’s tense, she can feel him vibrating against her. She squeezes him back, subtly. “You have something to say, you say it here.”
She can see the conflict play out over John’s face. He’s stubborn, she’s sensing that’s probably where Sam gets it from, but there’s something else at play here, something that had him breaking into his estranged son’s apartment after four years.
“It’s your brother,” he says eventually, and Jess feels Sam’s sharp inhale like an electric shock. “He’s on a hunting trip, and he hasn’t been home in a few days.”

Well that and as long as he's focused on Dean, he won't hurt Sammy.
Regardless of how it happens, I just want a Dean who's been sexually abused by his father, getting saved by adults (Pastor Jim) who realize that something is wrong.
