    Summary

There is no cure for the silverwood, but that doesn't mean there isn't any hope. Olruggio helps Qifrey through a new treatment to tame the parasite inside him.

    -

Olruggio starts like he always does, “I’ve got you. You’re safe. I forgive you.” He punctuates each statement by running his nails gently across Qifrey’s scalp.

    The silverwood tree sprouts.

    Summary

“You know,” Olruggio says, roughly. He doesn’t move to take Qifrey’s hand again. “You know. You can’t not know, Qifrey.”

Qifrey just looks at him. “I do.”

    The rain continues falling.

(And so Olruggio forgets. And he inevitably figures it out again, because of course he does; and he inevitably chooses to forget again, and again, and again, because his heart is always the same. The story is always the same. Like a tale from under a silverwood tree, like a myth from the days of old, not so much tied by the constraints of the narrative so much as being narrative itself. Antigone must bury her brother. Iphigenia must be put to death. At a thousand turns, in a thousand ways, Orpheus must turn, and he must look, again, and again.

    And Olruggio forgets.)

There is an old story about a witch and a silverwood tree.

    Summary

No one died in the bowels of Shido's palace; the Phantom Thieves, plus one, took down the ship's captain, the complacent public, the Demiurge itself.

But for the conspiracy to be dismantled, someone had to take the fall.

Goro spent three years in juvenile hall, unmoored and deserted on a metaphorical island with no ship in sight. He never planned for a future beyond ruining the man who ruined him.

(The funny thing about futures is that they have their own way of finding you.)

    Summary

His fright at the thought that Coco might have been in danger when he woke up was heart-stopping. The feeling he had when he thought he’d forgotten one of the simplest spells in his collection was….something else. Like a vice around his throat. A garotte of terror.

Olruggio can't claim to be the picture of perfect health and wellbeing, but things are getting strange. He's forgetting stuff - stuff that he really shouldn't be forgetting. And he doesn't know why.

    Summary

Olruggio crumbles. On hands and knees he crawls to him, dragging himself across the jagged shards of their hearts that litter the ground, a pilgrimage, a supplicant. He grasps at the robes of his god and begs for lenity.

"Qifrey. Qifrey, Qifrey," he prays. "Forgive me. My love, forgive me, please."

In the days after they have returned from the Great Hall following the events of the second test, Qifrey finds out that Olruiggio's kindness is just as inescapable as his own madness.
