Two years after graduation, Andrew is still trying his hardest to move on from his stupid college infatuation with the runaway disaster that was one Neil Josten. In his humble opinion, he was doing a fine job at it, until suddenly Neil is moving to his city, playing on his team and sharing his apartment.Andrew can’t let himself hope that things will turn out differently than last time. He knows they’re fated to have their path separate again, that he will never have Neil permanantly in his life no matter how he still craves it, especially not after he learns Neil might already be involve with someone else.
He needs to move on, but it’s easier said than done.

Neil was hiding something, that much he was sure of.
It had been a while since Neil actively tried to keep something from Andrew. Since the debacle of last spring, after they sat together in the FBI interrogation room for what had felt like days, and Neil had laid out all his secrets and lies in front of him and the agents, there really wasn’t any reasons left to hide anything between them.
But now, almost a year later, Neil was apparently back to his old liar self.Andrew's suspicious of Neil's recent behavior, Neil's got a big news he's definitely nervous to share, and they are going to have to deal with the fallout together.

Andrew first notices that he isn’t alone on a Tuesday night in July.
He’s sitting cross-legged on the edge of the long dock stretching out into the small cove, looking down into the dark, churning water. Wind whips at his cheeks, and he has to keep a palm around his cigarette to keep it lit. The waves push at the wooden posts of the dock like a threat.

He raises his hand again when Andrew looks at him, and Andrew holds out his arms in invitation; he's already wet and fucking freezing, no more or less water is going to change that at this point.
"Go on, splash me again," he says. "But you're getting off this damn beach, because I am not dealing with Kevin's attitude tomorrow if Wymack finds your dead, capsicle body here. You can die elsewhere for all I care, just don't make it my problem by doing it in the restaurant’s view."
Andrew's familiar routine of closing up for the night is disrupted by something bloody and injured washing up from the depths.
