“Don’t tell anyone,” Yuta whispers to Toge, deeply blushing. “I like…Maki.”
Something in his stomach drops. He tells himself that that feeling must have been excitement–his two best friends would probably end up together after all. Yuta was strong, kindhearted, compassionate, and so, so much more. Of course Maki would like him back, and she was wonderful too.

Toge was happy for his friends, he must have been.

Many times Xie Lian had asked himself the same question: at what exact moment had he shattered beyond recall?

Perhaps it was the day the Emperor's hands first ventured beneath his inner robes, and his vows were broken (ripped out, crushed, butchered, and flung into the mud)?
But more often, Xie Lian blamed the day he gave up.
Or: Jun Wu rescues Xie Lian from the coffin, only to imprison him in the Palace and hold him hostage. Eventually, Xie Lian escapes with the aid of an unknown ally and turns up in Ghost City, concealing his name and appearance.
This fanfiction is meant to be an exploration of post-traumatic recovery. There will be a lot of pain, but also good things!
