Summary
Shane won’t lie to himself and say that he wasn’t a jealous person. He won’t lie and say there were moments before they officially got together, where Shane had lost his appetite thinking of the different activities Ilya would get up to with others. Knowing that he wasn’t the only one. Believing that there wasn’t a possibility that he could become Ilya’s only one. That Ilya would want that as much as Shane did, even when he pretended not too.
He didn’t particularly expect to worry about this after getting married though.

Summary
If Ilya was hurt, Shane would be the last one to find anything out, because on paper, they were nothing to each other. Less than nothing. Officially, they hated each other.
The thought of Ilya in that position—trapped on the other side of a locked hospital door, frantic, blind, and treated like an intrusive stranger—made his stomach twist with a violent wave of unease.
He couldn’t do that to him. He wouldn't.

In a moment of impulsivity, Shane makes Ilya his legal healthcare proxy. When he's injured in the infamous Boston game, it takes everyone (including Ilya) by surprise.

As promised, Shane was seated beside a prince. He was obscenely beautiful. His hair reflected a white-gold twinge in the sun, with eyebrows to match, fading into his browbone. A straight nose, rose-bud lips, and skin as smooth as porcelain. A glittering diamond hanging off one earlobe. Objectively beautiful. Regrettably not who he wanted.
Or: What if, post-tuna meltdown, Ilya gets injured and the All-Stars reunion never happens. Shane and Ilya don't make up. Shane actually goes to Wimbledon that year and gets a lot more than he bargained for.
