“So why the Hell would I join another band? There’s nothing for me there. My life is here. Not with whoever the fuck you are,” IV snaps, and he turns to walk away angrily.
His wrist is snatched as the man follows him, and he pulls IV to a stop, but IV doesn’t turn to face him. He doesn’t want the man to see the traitorous tears in his eyes. He thought he was over this. He thought he could face his past and just let it go, but these people are dragging up all his worst memories and he just wants to go home.
“I’m sorry,” the man says softly. “I’m sorry for whatever happened to you and I’m sorry you think you can’t make music anymore. But I don’t think you want to give up on it, do you?”

Summary
So, here's the thing. Wesley wasn't actually all that interested in sex. There was a multitude of reasons why, but only a handful that he offered when questioned. Most of his answers ended up with even more questions being asked and he was not going to explain his whole history to some guy wanting to pry. So, he went with the obvious: It's a side effect of his medications. It's an excuse, and it's a bit of a cop out, as his disinterest came far before the most recent round of antidepressants, but it's usually enough for the asker to shrug their shoulders and move on. It's a lot easier to accept than the full, unadulterated truth.

“Could you lay down with me?”
II enters Vessel’s nest carefully, mindful not to disturb anything. Once inside, he takes Vessel’s hand and allows himself to be maneuvered until they’re lying face to face, Vessel’s head tucked beneath his chin.
“What’s going on with you, sweetheart?”
“I didn’t pass out because I’m going into heat,” Vessel says quietly. “Or because I’ve taken too many suppressants.”
“Then what?”
“It’s… it’s nothing serious.”
Despite the claim, Vessel wraps his arms around him and pulls him close, tight enough to hurt.
“I mean, it has a name,” he murmurs, lips brushing the hollow between II’s collarbones. “But it’s pretty outdated. A lot of people don’t even think it’s real.”
II stills.
“My doctor said I’m developing Rejection Syndrome.”
For a moment, II doesn’t understand. The term is so old to his ears it may as well be foreign, something pulled from a textbook or fantasy novel.
"How?"

Vessel's alpha has been emotionally neglecting him for years, and the effects are beginning to take a physical toll. II decides it's time to stop avoiding their feelings and finally do something about it.

Summary
After the humans of the past depleted all of the resources available to them, the Imperials had to improvise to safe the rest of the humans. Over the course of the next thousands of years the Imperials have build up a new civilisation that started with a giant tower of durable metal and an advanced tubing system, to a fully habitable zone. Unfortunately, due to the lack of proper planning at the start, it slowly turned into another wasteland. Air became toxic, an unfair ranking system was but up by the Imperials that never show themselves, unimportant people get thrown into the slums and are forced to work in the toxic plumes of the Industrial city to survive. The uncontrollable building lead to the once saviour for the people, to become the Industrial Hell.
