Summary
Parker had just gotten the patient's CT results when Toomarian pulled up short by central and stuttered out, "So, um, is it possible that Dr. Robby and Dr. Abbot are about to make out in Trauma 1?"
The intern clocking their weirdness on day one? That might be a new record.
Parker didn't bother looking up from her tablet. "Now that sounds like the definition of not my business," she drawled. "But if you see any hot man-on-man action, note the date and time. Ahmad's got a pool going."

Summary
“Bruce…?” His voice cracked, barely more than a whisper. “Where are you, Bruce…?”
His eyes began to sting, and it took him a moment to realize that tears were slipping from them, trailing along his temples and into his ears. Jason never cried—he never cried—but now he couldn’t hold back the surge of despair that tore out of his throat in wet, broken gasps.
“Dad? Please…Dad?..”“Dick, I received a call tonight from an unknown number.”
Dick frowned, a flicker of irritation tightening his jaw. Did Bruce really call him for this?
“There are records linking that number to Jason.”
And with just one sentence, the anger in Dick’s chest went out like a flame caught in freezing wind, leaving only a hollow, iced darkness in its place.
“What?”Or,
Jason wakes up in the grave, and Bats hunt him down.

Summary
“Think we’re due a vacation.” Jack smarmed from behind the joint. “We could work with Shen and Walsh, Dr. Al. It won't be hard to get coverage.”
“What fucking planet are you living on where hospital bueracracy is that easy?” Somewhere between Robby’s fifth toke and Jack’s third, their fingers had come to an inevitable tangle, as they sat together by the immortalized soldier’s giant stone foot.
“The one where I’m a disabled war-veteran and you’re a fucking nutjob, one inconvenience away from cracking?”
A low laugh tumbled from out of Robby’s mouth, and he scratched his beard. “Oh. That planet. I thought we were gonna move?”

Summary
"You're part of the night shift," Dr. Abbot smiles as he crosses his arms over his chest. "That can change, but you're part of my team now. We take care of each other. And yeah, I know I'm not cool as the others, but someone needs to take care of the pack, you know?"
"Like the packs from the Twilight saga," Mel points out.
Dr. Abbot just blinks at her before replying: "Yeah, why the fuck not? Just like Twilight."
(or 5 times Jack took care of his Night Shift + 1 time Night Shift took care of Jack).

Summary
One of the hardest parts of working in the healthcare system was realising how no one had fought for her when she was a child. No one had protected her. So Trinity would be damned if she let this patient go without helping her, even if it costs her everything.
Or,
Trinity has a very bad, no good day and has very complicated feelings around the fact no one seems willing to give up on herBookmarked by socksrocks

Summary
"It's late to start riding," Jack said as Robby straightened, a neutral statement that was a protest nonetheless. They knew how to say things without saying anything, the two of them.
Maybe that was part of the problem.
Robby stared down at the still-sleeping baby. "I have a lot of things to see," he said, almost to himself, a double layer to that, one that Jack found oddly heartening.
"And people to love," he said, taking a flier on it because why the fuck not.

Summary
Trinity shakes her head with a laugh, and suddenly pulls her hand away. Samira frowns down at it, then blinks when Trinity moves around her to walk on her left side, and when Samira’s hand sways back down, takes it in her own again. She squeezes it.
“What was that for?” Samira asks, confused.
“Didn’t want you falling into the street,” Trinity explains, like it’s nothing. Stupidly, Samira feels tears well up behind her eyes, blinking them away and cursing herself for being an emotional drunk.
or; five times samira is undone by trinity’s kindness, and one time she does something about it.

Abbot hikes his camo backpack on his shoulder and, his back to Dennis, says, “You were homeless?” His tone is neutral, as if he’s asking what Dennis had for lunch, or how many scrub credits he has left on his shift.

Summary
It’s Christmas Eve, and Dennis is in the foulest mood anyone could ever be in.
Only internally though. Outwardly, he’s acting completely normally because it isn’t anyone else’s fault that he’ll be spending the next day all alone.
He’s writing up his notes, silently praying for someone to come in with an emergency that takes up so much time that he naturally continues his shift into the next day. It’s probably not good to pray on a tragedy, but Dennis is far past the point of sterling morality this week.
He imagines it will come back to bite him.

Summary
Sometimes, Dennis thinks, life would be easier if he didn't feel guilt so easily.
Pretending that he doesn't have the flu to cover for everybody else who has the flu isn't one of his brightest moments. But Dr. Robby had looked so openly defeated when he had to send Santos and McKay home early in the shift, and when he jokingly begged for Dennis not to catch the flu...
Well, the overwhelming guilty feelings came into play at just the right time. Never mind the fact that he's been running a small fever since early that morning from the same flu that is terrorizing the department. Ibuprofen is a godsend, and guilt, Dennis knows, is a powerful thing.

The first drag is like coming home, if home wanted to slowly kill you through suffocation. It’s delightful, and grounding, and he doesn’t feel even a little guilty about lying to Dana because she’ll never find out. Not while he’s wearing Trinity’s jacket so his doesn’t smell like lies.
Sweet smoky freedom. It feels too good. Too easy.
