Summary
To spend time with a dead man felt like an uprising against reality itself, and Ren was nothing if not rebellious.
Each and every giddy moment spent in Akechi’s company felt like a tiny rebellion against the cold uncaring cruelty of the world that had sought to keep them apart – each day with Akechi was a proverbial middle finger to the schemes of a false god and the machinations of a gentle madman.

What lingered in his mind were her eyes.
Pale, gleeful, high on the kill. Eagerly searching his face for cracks in his unflappable facade.
“Behold, Tyrant, Bhaal’s new chosen.”

Summary
Their last feeding had been the night before confronting Cazador- anything to give Astarion the upper hand against the bastard- and that had been nearly a tenday ago.
So, he feels bad. And- if he’s being honest- a small part of him fears that, with Cazador finally dead for good, Astarion will have no more use of him and soon discard him for someone else, someone better. Because, really, who in their right mind would want to romantically involve themselves with a Bhaalspawn?
Hawthorn seeks out Astarion for a midnight snack.

Summary
There's a subtle shift in his voice, a deeper meaning that wasn't there before dragging along the edges of his words- one that V finally catches onto. The way he's looking at him is less like a comrade and more like a piece of meat. "But we have an ongoing arrangement. Nothing about it changes, except for the manner in which I gain access to your blood. Do you understand what I'm asking? I can go into more specifics, if you want."
V nearly drops the rag in the river. He faces Astarion again, meeting his gaze, searching it. "Oh gods, you're serious."
Astarion casts his hands up helplessly. "I'm just saying! It's a precious commodity; no sense letting it go to waste!"
