Mike has finally made it as an author. But writing about your own past can get complicated, especially when fans start to draw conclusions that point Mike in the direction of the person he's been writing about all along.
And living life is hard. Especially when you're doing it all on your own. But grief and love are a lot more similar than you might realise. They both tend to wake us up from the monotony of our lives.

Summary
Four years after Hawkins, Will Byers has built a steady life in New York and Mike Wheeler has a half-finished manuscript, too many quiet regrets, and a habit of showing up anyway.
After a wedding and breakup keep them all in the same orbit long enough that there’s nowhere to hide behind and Mike is forced to deal with things he’s left out of the manuscript- especially where Will is concerned. After all, the truth always comes out in the end, and Mike has stepped over things for too long.
Canon-compliant post-epilogue story that final talks about all the gates (in my heart, this is what happens.)
