There are men turning up dead in the woods, and Chief of Police Charlie Swan has a job to do—figure out what, or who, left the poor bastards torn up as they are. Chief of Police Charlie Swan is too old for this mess. Too old and too sick of this shit to pretend Forks is just a sleepy old rural town anymore. Between the gruesome corpses and the quiet, unsettling doctor Cullen who shows up like a statue in pressed slacks, lying through his teeth, Charlie’s got more questions than answers—and no one seems too keen on giving him either.
Charlie’s trying not to notice how his breath catches when the doc gets too close. He’s also trying not to notice how the bodies keep piling up, unsolved. Neither effort is going particularly well.
And if one more person tells him it was a bear, he’s going to shoot something. Probably not a bear.

“Oh, I’m sorry. My latent psychic abilities haven’t kicked in yet,” Dick said. Then, as if the possibility was just occurring to him: “You told someone you were coming, right?”
Tim made a noise, vague enough for Dick to interpret however he wanted.
“Hey,” the next tug on the blanket was sharper, as was Dick’s voice. When he got the blanket down enough to see Tim’s face, he raised an eyebrow, repeating, “You told someone you were coming, right?”
Or: Tim and Bruce have a fight. Tim does the only logical thing and goes to Dick about it.

Ren pulls away with a mournful noise and glares at the twisted beings racing down the hallway towards them. He stands up and draws his sword as Dan Heng refastens his pants and tries to stop the way his legs are shaking.
He does look a little more lucid, Dan Heng thinks, blushing furiously as he watches Ren wipe his mouth off with his free hand then lick the mess off of his fingers. Seems like this really does work to calm him down…

The wind stills and Jason and the forest around him both hold their breath at the same time. There is a beat of deafening silence, but then there is a shivering of leaves and a groaning of wood in the distance.
Oh hell yeah.
A large tree of a man steps into the clearing.
Not just that he is tall — he is a solid ten feet if Jason were to guess — but because of his appearance too.
A dryad stands before Jason. He has stepped up to the circle, standing close enough to be caught in its light. His skin is covered with a light colored bark, dusted with rusty lichen across his body in a pattern akin to body hair. His head is crowned with leaves — yellow and oranges like he has ginger tresses — and branches that grow out of him like antlers.
He is beautiful.
Jason's dick stirs.
Jason Todd, spellsword and damn good assassin if he says so himself, discovers an enticing old ritual. The idea of it is simple. The Forest will provide him with magical boons and all Jason has to do is offer himself up as a broodmare the once.
Obviously he goes for it. For the power, you see.
