“I play a lot of exy,” Aaron said, practiced, forcing his tone to stay even. He was not letting this kindly nurse take him away from his mother. “I don’t wear protective gear because I get lazy about it. My mom doesn’t hurt me.”

It was…everything she'd wanted.
This would be her chance, just for tonight. Move on with someone new. Prove she could free up some of the space in her heart, she didn't need to rely on the ghost of a relationship to ground her, that she wasn't pathetic enough to continue yearning for something that couldn't be fixed.
Abruptly, a pair of arms intertwined around her neck, bringing with it a floral scent she recognised all too well.
Chi Cheng's stomach dropped.
"She doesn't like crowds," Suowei simpered, her words especially cutting in that sweet, saccharine tone. "Do you, baobei?"

Summary
