The freedom he felt when he realized he could walk upon clouds. The pointlessness and smallness of it all when viewed from high above. The lack of distinction he feels in the pain of those who are called Senju and those Butsuma has deemed enemies.
His brothers were his tethers, the only ones he cared for, and they are gone. Dead. He had failed them. After Tobirama is responsible for the broken bonds of friendship between Hashirama and that Uchiha, Hashirama won't even look at him. So what is there to hold onto? What is there to keep him fighting? Kill. Obey. He would rather stop calling himself Senju.
