“I look forward to seeing how you will brute force your way out of this one.” Infuriatingly, the Ferryman wouldn’t let Enkrid get a word in edgewise, and he gave a wordless growl.
“I’ll tear down this wall like all the others, just you watch,” Enkrid grit out, and then he was gone, leaving barely a ripple in the endlessly stretching not-water.
The Ferryman stared where the other had been standing just seconds before, the grin still faintly on its lips. Maybe this would finally make Enkrid give up. And well, if it didn’t, it would be fun to watch regardless.

“Cap- er- Enkrid,” one of the unfamiliar men finally said. He had uneven red hair and clever hazel eyes. “Your name is Enkrid, right?”
Enkrid cautiously nodded.
“How much… do you remember?”
That was an unexpected question, Enkrid thought. And he didn’t know what answer they wanted.
“What do you mean, sir?” he hesitantly asked in reply, “Remember what?”

When he pulls her over one fateful night for speeding down Hollywood Boulevard, the two of them scramble for a way to keep this chance meeting going, and they find one: Emily is going to shadow Holland to learn about detective work for an upcoming film. Holland is by no means a detective, but he's willing to engage in this fiction if it means spending more time with this charming, effusive actress.
A love story is a mythical thing. Emily's Los Angeles is made for it; Holland's is far too jaded. But as the two circle each other and begin to combine their worlds, the mythological might just become possible.
