    On Ch 3

Ch 2You people have been speedrunning genetic complications for generations and nobody thought to stop?”

    The High Matron blinked.

    “Your Majesty—”

“No, because what do you mean my boyfriend is my brother and my parents were siblings? At this point I’m afraid to ask how anyone in this family is related to anybody.”

“I’m your cousin,” one of the matrons.

    Summary

On good days, of which there are few, Kaeya takes a sip from his flask of Death After Noon, and it’s enough to tide him over long enough that actual food is a suitable replacement for what his body is truly craving.

On the worse days, of which there are many, he has to work hard to convince himself that children are too small to make a satisfying meal.

Ch 2The blood keeps coming, but Diluc doesn’t return.

There are new faces in town now, the city changes, little by little.

Shortly after Albedo’s return, there’s a little girl, Klee. A few suspicious folk that Kaeya turns out quickly enough. Some marriages, some divorces. Births and deaths. A golden-haired traveler walks through the front gates, and stays for awhile.

Even the dragon, Dvalin— that’s complicated— and the bard, Barbatos.

CN 8was planted here to build a blood contract,” Kaeya whispers, holding onto the doorframe. “When the day comes, however distant… my father wanted your bloodline on my side of the war. If you allow me to keep drinking, any attempts to harm me will take its toll on you, too.”

It’s the last Diluc hears from any member of his family.

    Until now.

tone of his voice is airy. Diluc thinks back on when they’d first met, eight-years-old and making a promise to look after Kaeya, not knowing what it entailed. Thinks about how Kaeya hadn’t told them he needed blood to live until he was gravely ill, and Diluc had begged.

Pink sunrise filters through the entrance of the mines, and Diluc turns his head to look at Kaeya’s face.

Back then, Kaeya chose to starve instead of share his secret. Diluc wonders how much of that has changed. Wonders how long Kaeya had stayed hungry before he was forced to feed, letting his body drain dry of sustenance, waiting on a package that would never arrive.

    Delusion had killed his father.

    He’d been Kaeya’s father, too.

How dare Kaeya talk about family, when he’d walked right into the enemy’s arms.

Ch 3Of course I did,” Albedo starts. “But I don’t think I should of. I think he’d… understand you a lot more if he knew about the brain damage.”

“First off, you can’t understand someone ‘more’ if you don’t understand them at all,” Kaeya starts. “Second off, no. We haven’t spoken in seven years. And we’re not going to speak again.”

    Summary

People have been going missing. As Kaeya gets some intel that the fatui might be behind the disappearances, he goes to dragonspine alone despite Jean’s explicit instructions not to.

Little does he know, the information was meant to lure the other Ragnvindr brother. After sustaining a life threatening injury, Kaeya is used to bait in the real prize, Diluc. Unfortunately for the fatui, Kaeya knows one thing they don’t. Diluc would never come to his rescue.

MCh 2 ISH D assume K lazy or what invoeld

Ch 8And yet it still terrified him. The moment Kaeya had died; there wasn’t a price Diluc wouldn’t have been willing to pay to bring him back. He didn’t see a threat to Mondstadt. All he saw was the body of his little brother. So horribly still…

He hated how he could see similarities between this Kaeya and his. It was cruel. Even when he tried to keep his distance, the cavalry captain seemed to have made it his duty to taunt him. Smugly waving their past in front of his face with sharp and pointed jabs.

It stirred such a deep soul crushing longing for his father and little brother. Four years, just like that. Such a long time and yet it felt like no time at all. Some days it still felt like everything had happened just a few days ago, and other days it felt like an entire lifetime had already passed.

But there were some things that could never be forgiven. Not even by family.
