“Distract me, then.” Neuvillette is so very tired, but he puts his phone on speaker and holds it back, to swipe through the full set of photos Wriothesley sent.
Black lace clings to a broad chest, accented by a D-ring collar across the throat. The gems that drip down from the silk finishings are sapphire.
The next image is all pink lace, with a feminine touch, bows lining the trimmings.
A full piece bodysuit, all intricate, navy lace is the last image. This one is scattered with silver gems, and it shimmers beneath the light. It’s beautiful. The way it cinches in Wriothesley’s waist reminds Neuvillette of a corset.
Merde.
- Wriothesley calls Neuvillette while he works into the early hours of the morning, erotic photographs in tow. Perhaps a touch of stress relief is in order.

“A man can’t have a secret from a single damn person." Wriothesley offered his best friend a smile. “I will talk to Neuvillette. Maybe I can compromise with everyone and start my leave of absence at 35 weeks. Unless noodle is at risk of course, then earlier.”

Icy glazed eyes followed as the treasures were set on the vanity and his mate approached him. A gloved hand brushed over his cheek and jawline. Soft lips met his own. Wriothesley let out a small squeak before pulling his mate into a fiery kiss. He swallowed down the surprised sound from his mate.

“Its just… missing something and I can’t figure out what.” Wriothesley sighed. There was a hiss of frustration under his breath.
“I know what it's missing.” Neuvillette stole another soft kiss. “It is missing you, spread out and being bred for days until you are round with our child.”

Their touches have lingered and they’ve stayed together in the after much longer, as if hoping Neuvillette’s release would take. The desire for a child has been there, in the backs of their minds, and they both know it. They just simply haven’t found it necessary to bring those needs to the forefront.
“Two years is still young in comparison to the centuries we’ll have,” Neuvillette thinks aloud. His fingers play over Wriothesley’s belly, soothing strokes. Wriothesley does much the same, fingers tracing the scales on Neuvillette’s forearm. “Is it not too soon to be thinking of children?”
“Maybe, but we’ve known each other long enough before marriage. We waited very long.”

He gestures vaguely with his eyes—because his hands are trapped under the blanket and his pride is trapped under Neuvillette’s patience.
Neuvillette hums, almost dryly. “At fussing over you?”
“At staying,” Wriothesley says, more quiet now.
Neuvillette does not respond right away.
Instead, he dips the spoon back into the broth, scoops a careful portion, and brings it up again—steady, slow, like ritual. He waits for Wriothesley to part his lips. Waits until the soup is gone before saying softly,
“You are surprisingly easy to stay for.”
Or, Wriothesley gets sick, and Neuvillette gets soft.
