They would marry, he would graduate medical school, and they would have children who would one day also attend Welton. He felt largely ambivalent about it. This foregone conclusion had nothing to do with the romantic flourishes and swoon-worthy protagonists he’d been introduced to by Keating’s class or Shakespeare.

Goose has been dead for thirty years when Iceman loses his second wingman to a surface-to-air missile on the tail-end of a mission he's responsible for: he's sent his family on a suicide mission to destroy a uranium enrichment facility in Russia's Far East.
This is the story of those thirty years in the middle.
