She laughs a little, as if he’s jesting. “That hardly seems equal. A mortal heart for a god’s?”
“Your heart,” Solas says, in a gentle correction. “For mine.”

“Curtains. Do you remember when we first got to Skyhold? What a mess it was? There were woodchucks under the foundation, three hundred years of raven droppings in the rotunda, and a spirit of compassion down in the field hospital trying to euthanize our soldiers. But Josephine looked around and said we needed to hang curtains, and by the end of the day, we were measuring for the drapers.”

Despite her uncertainty, something about his willingness to put himself in harm’s way—to offer his aid in sealing the torn sky by aligning with a largely human and Chantry-led organization as an elven apostate—reminded her vividly of the mages that had fought the dragon at her side. The way their names were forgotten while hers was upraised. And, like those mages, she had fought at Solas’ side, more often after their Herald had woken. Each outing together seemed to soften the edge of doubt between them, and she found herself becoming more intrigued and less wary.
