He hoped it was a virus, and he'd sleep it off, but he could smell you next to him, sharp. Even when he closed his eyes the shape of you in the room was distinct. You were a heat imprint next to him, you burned yourself into his withered capacity for trust. He said you were his, he said it all the time, knew it all the time, that he'd charmed you and you'd fallen victim to him, the doll-man from the trash. The ugly, walking corpse of the most successful Addison who ever lived: Spamton G. Spamton. That morning he realized he was stuck with you in every iota. His neural pathways were adjusted, wired you in, accommodated you. His heat started for the first time in a decade.

Summary
Word on the street was that Spamton and Tenna had reconciled.
The only people who knew that this rumour wasn’t necessarily true were Spamton and Tenna themselves, on account of the fact that reconciliation implied that there was some measure of open communication, forgiveness, and acceptance between the two of them. The truth of the matter was far sadder: Spamton and Tenna were the only people who tolerated the other’s company, and so they found themselves together more often than not because it was preferable to being alone. Spamton had successfully swindled, cheated, taunted, and otherwise ostracized himself from every denizen in Cyber City and TV World, with those from the Card Kingdom keeping a wide berth from him based on reputation alone, whereas Tenna was met with a mixture of callous resentment and worse still, looks of deep, lingering pity that were only garnered when one had an inadvisably publicly televised mental collapse.

Spamton and Tenna reunite, but neither is as they remember. They manage to work it out in the sequel.

Spamton barked out a humorless guffaw, a shudder wracking his body. “You aren’t the one with a [Easter surprise] up your [#%$@], T- [Tens across the ]— [tenner]— [10/10]!” Tenna’s name seemed to get caught in his throat, his voice rattling off similar phrases until he clamped his mouth shut and tugged at his own hair, though his fiery gaze was still locked on the CRTV.

It wasn’t that Spamton was delicate— he wasn’t. He was anything but. Rough and tumble, eager to spat; he got in more trouble than a censor on a Saturday night and had a missing tooth to prove it (though he absolutely hated it being pointed out). It was just… He was code and pixels and mumbo-jumbo Tenna didn’t care to understand while Tenna himself was sturdy, thick plastic and glass and silicone and copper wiring. He could be repaired, but how in the world do you fix broken code? It was so far out of Tenna’s wheelhouse it was a home run clear out of the park. ‘I don’t want to break him’, Tenna thought desperately, though it still made his stomach flip to think about.
