Summary
Twelve hours and forty eight agonizing minutes had passed since Ashley left.
The end of the cigarette burns his fingers. He makes an effort to still his trembling hands so he can light up another one. He’d tried the summoning circle countless times, promising the Entity ten souls, twenty, the entire apartment complex, to no avail. The Entity was adamant about not welcoming Andrew back to his realm. When he got his hands on that stupid ball of eyes, he was going to punt it straight to hell.
Andrew wonders if the cricket, drowning and half-dead, ever misses the worm. He feels achingly empty without a parasite there to leech his nutrients, carve a home into his viscera, twist into his cavities.

Summary
He always came running back to her, especially concerned whenever she hurt herself. He would patch her up and kiss the band-aid while she blubbered fat crocodile tears. She drank in these scraps of his attention the same way a dog might eat barf off the floor. But those temporary moments of affection were growing farther and fewer in between, and she could only inflict so many injuries on herself—god knows the hag wouldn’t pay a hospital bill, not for her.
So she was thrilled to have discovered a foothold, another way to worm back into his good graces. Sure, maybe it went against convention to launch a seduction campaign on your own brother, but it’s not like she had a reputation to protect anyway. Andrew, on the other hand, very much did. He’s a coward who loves to hide behind her, always has been. Ashley knows he would never give himself permission to do anything unless she started it.

He raised Ashley like his own, shouldered the consequences she should have rightfully deserved and kept her content by any means — even if that meant indulging her every whim. She sensed this as an opening. She crashed down onto his already shattered spine with bone-snapping force, reducing what remained to a grotesque slurry of blood, pulp and splintered fragments too mangled to recognize. “Mom said you’d help me with everything!” Ashley says, every damn time. Selfish, entitled, like the piece of shit she is.
He resents her for it.
But resentment never outweighs love. That’s the part that stings the most. And for quite some time, that love has started to rot. It clings to his bones like mold, feeding off his guilt, mutating into something he doesn't want to acknowledge. Something darker. It threads through the cracks in him, quiet and insidious at first, until it coats everything. A slow suffocation that reshapes the way he looks at her, the way he feels her in the room even when she’s not touching him. It festers where shame lives, drawing strength from every suppressed thought, every half-swallowed urge.

Sometimes, while Leyley is asleep, Andrew thinks about killing her.
If he went through with it, the Entity would take his soul in exchange. Leyley sold him out, after all, with all the nonchalance of a farmer selling cattle. But it's not like he wants to go on living like this anyway. In fact, it's actually quite tempting to just put an end to it all. This episode of Andy and Leyley should have stopped airing a long time ago, but that selfish little brat just couldn't let go of it, couldn't turn the show off long enough to see that Andrew has been sitting beside her all along.

There is something else she has called him, mostly in jest. Once or twice when she wanted to get his goat about something. It was always a joke, but there wasn't anything joking about the way his eyes darkened, how he held her gaze for too long after the word left her mouth. He was right that he had taught her exactly how to undo him; but, that was in part because she had been a very diligent student.
“Please, Daddy, I want you to be yours.”
It’s like a lightning bolt to his chest, shocking him into action. A growl leaves his mouth as he covers her body with his own so he can kiss her. Vicious and totaling like this isn’t the first time. Not letting her catch her breath as his tongue dives into her mouth, thrusting his finger all the way into her at the same time like he wants to swallow her pleasure whole.
When she pushes him away so she can catch her breath, his eyes are darkly glistening.
“Do you have any idea how many times I’ve dreamed of you saying some fucked up shit like that?”
