Summary
Ever since Lucifer came to the somewhat horrifying realization that Alastor hasn’t slept in only God knows how long he has been trying (and failing) to fix that.
He doesn’t know why Alastor seems to resist the allure of a good night sleep with every fiber of his being, but he does know that if he doesn’t get some actual rest soon his prickly cactus is going to hurt himself. Unfortunately, every attempt to figure out why Alastor is so sleep avoidant has been met with an increasingly unhappy Radio Demon which has now resulted in an embargo on all discussions about sleep and a threat of being ban from the kitchen (and cut off from his only supply of decent -- and magically imbued — teas in Hell).
But Lucifer is nothing if not persistent and even if he has to deal with hoards of Sinners, the machinations of irritating Overlords, Charlies sudden bizarre obsession with media management, and Alastor’s own stubbornness he is going to find a way to get his Sweetpea a good nights sleep.
Even if it takes some drastic measures.

Summary
While looking through V-Tower, Alastor finds something that piques his interest. He figured that asking Vox for this small favor was going to be simple, after all, he often indulges Vox with whatever he wants, so it is only fair that Alastor gets something as well once in a while.

Alastor had always had some quirks and in hell where there are secondary genders and certain quirks he had as a human would reflect something he believes he is not? Well how was he supposed to know the short king, alphas of alphas was going to kick start something everyone though impossible?

It was the anniversary of the day Lilith had left.
Not something Alastor had ever seen himself caring about, but Lucifer's steadily growing low mood had weighed on him as though it were his own, and he knew this sort of thing typically cheered a man up. He was no fool. Besides – it was rather fitting, wasn't it? Presenting Lucifer with such a memento on such a day? He had no need to remember his absent wife, not when Alastor was around.
Rosie gestured towards the chaise lounge. “Alright then. Let's see what we're working with.”

Alastor learned quick it was extremely unusual for a sinner to have two power sets. Even more unusual to be so powerful upon arrival. Sub or not, Alastor proved to be a unique presence, and, ever the opportunist, he took full advantage of it, building his power and reputation with terrifying speed.
With a clear head and his instincts settled, Alastor understood the pros and cons of his plans. One involved luck, the other required trust, and neither were abundant in a place like Hell. Unfortunately, there was no amount of scheming or contingencies he could set in place that would insure the safety of his soul without someone else being involved. He had searched a long time for a solution and come up empty-handed at every turn.
To be the Royals' Sub might just be his most insane scheme yet.

Danny watches him close his eyes, fingers twirling the end of his ghost tail mindlessly. Vlad probably expects him to go to his room, but he kinda really doesn't want to be alone right now.
He knows he's much too old for this. The last time someone held him to sleep was Jazz, when he was little. He'd had a nightmare and it didn't even occur to him to go look for his parents, since they were, most likely, in the lab and that's what most of his nightmares had always been about. He focuses on the bond, trying to telegraph his wish to be held.

Vlad was the last person Danny wanted to see as his enemy, dangerous as he was, so having him as an ally - not just an ally, but obsessively concerned about his wellbeing to boot - took a huge amount of worry off his back. Having Vlad's crazy directed into protecting him instead of attacking him essentially solved most of his ghost related problems.

Determined, Lucifer opens the door and pushes his way inside the dark room.
Immediately, Alastor’s scent consumes him. Without the door to dilute it, the full scope of his partner’s predicament becomes quite clear to Lucifer.
He’s in heat. There’s no question of it. And not just at the start- no. He’s in the thick of it. A day or so along if the potency is anything to go by.
Lucifer can’t believe he didn’t realize sooner. But then- Alastor has never had a heat while Lucifer has known him. He’s never smelled this particular scent mingled with his Alastor’s own, never knew to pick it out amongst the many lingering scents in the hotel.
Or: In which Alastor goes into heat and thinks he has to face it all on his own. Spoiler- he doesn’t.

Summary
The rutting season, it’s a first Lucifer even hears of it. He knows, of course, what it means in terms of animals and nature, more specifically of the deer nature but Alastor definitely isn’t an animal, despite some very distinct deer features. Perhaps he has more of a deer in himself than he lets on, though and if so, Lucifer is dying of curiosity what it even means for him during his season.

.Except, what he comes to is no rut at all, which makes Lucifer simultaneously scream inside and lose his mind irreversibly for one pretty doe over and over again, whom he finds in the dim lights of the bayou.
He’s ready to count his blessings as long as the breeding season allows it.
