Like he had a bank in his brain full of things Eddie had said. "Thank you.” Eddie’s smile was genuine. The same smile Gareth wiped off his face earlier that day.

Chad rolls his eyes and pads into the living room, where the open plan of their house — pure, unadulterated glee washes through Chad, 'our house' prancing through his ears like a yappy dog — lets Chad take in the disaster unfolding in their — their! — kitchen.
Robert's ripping his hand away from a pan, shaking it out with a wince. The scars across his face make the wrinkle in his nose and the furrow of his brow more pronounced, and Chad, with all the joy in the world, happily steps over to smooth his husband's frown lines out.
