"Blowing all the air out of his system, he takes a full look around the room as he moves deeper into it. There’s the stage of course, all the way to the back of the room. And then lining one wall, is a bar and a walkway to the bathroom, with a half-wall and more stools in front of it. On the other side are the merch tables, only two with three people behind the table. Back on the stage, people were setting up the guitars and the drums and all the wires and it was busywork he hated that he recognized.
He also recognized that buzzing, nervous energy inside him. He wasn’t performing. He wasn’t going anywhere on stage. He was going to throw up."

Summary
He's a male human in his late twenties or early thirties. The blood, as he had guessed, wasn't his. The ship that was orbiting Erid had been a submarine, (they didn't have a word for submarine nor did they know it was man-made,) and it had neared closer and closer till one of the Eridians had seen it while testing a prototype telescope.
They cut it open and out the blood had spilled and out the man had come.
And that's as far as they know.

Grace has a soulmate, he knows this and before on Earth, he was okay with never meeting them. If it happened, it happened. But on Erid, after being forcefully sent to space to save his star with no choice in the matter, he admits to himself that he wasn't okay anymore, about it.
Sometimes, though, the universe listens and grants wishes every now and then. Even the ones unspoken.
Grace just has to hose this one down first.

“Why aren't you freaking out? Why are you so calm about this?” Buck wants to scream, he wants to rip up the perfectly green grass. Why is Eddie so calm?
“Because everything is going to be okay.” Eddie smiles at him, his eyes wrinkling and letting go of his elbow now but still reaching towards him. “Let's go for a walk.”
Alternatively; Buck gets into a car accident and his heart stops for a minute. In between the seconds the paramedics get his heart beating again, Buck has a chat with Death. He looks a lot like Eddie Diaz.

Ryland Grace wakes up on board the Hail Mary with no memory of how he got there or who he is. He is, despite his lack of memory, 100% certain he is unqualified to be in space. He does not like being in space. Every time he looks out a window he feels sort of nauseous. Unfortunately, he's kind of got to suck it up. He has literally no way back home - home, of course, being 11.9 light years away. And (as if everything else wasn't bad enough!) the only other living human on the Hail Mary is an engineer named Simon Fischer.
Or, a bloodymary au where Grace and Simon are alone in outer space together (until Rocky shows up)

“This okay?” Simon muttered, the vibrations from his words rippling across Grace’s stomach.
“Yes… yes I just…” Grace struggled to catch his breath. “This was not how I was expecting tonight to go.”
Simon paused his kisses. “How did you see this going?”
“I don’t know. We would… talk about it?”
“Do you want to talk instead?”
Grace couldn’t even remember what he wanted to say. Actually, there were no words that described what he wanted. “No. No, keep going.”

Or Eridians find Simon's submarine while spreading Astrophage to the galaxy and bring him back to Erid. Grace has to change his normal routine to help this new human adjust to life. Slowly, they get to know one another, despite Simon potentially being a war criminal from a moon with an ocean full of blood. But there's just something else about Simon that Grace can't shake, and he's pretty sure Simon feels it too...Bookmarked by themorgue

Ryland continues to explain.“The Eridians are big co-sleepers. They do this thing where they watch each other, for protection and stuff. I had to tell him that for humans, that’s um, kind of creepy, in most cases.”
“That’s fine. I’ll sleep on the floor.”
“What? No, no no. You just survived the most terrifying death trap known to man. Giving you the bed is the least I can do.”
Simon raises a suspicious eyebrow. “What’s the catch?”
