Daniel’s throat clicks on a dry swallow. It unnerves him, how easily Armand can read him. Years of advantage that Daniel doesn’t have. He thought he wouldn’t need it, perceptive mind of a Putlitzer-winning journalist, for whatever that gets him. But that’s nothing compared to Armand. Five hundred years of practiced manipulation. Decades of watching over Daniel and learning him without Daniel's permission.
Daniel’s shoulders sag as he leans against the wall. “I’m wondering…what was different? About me? You held me hostage. You whispered sweet nothings in my ear. You told me to rest. Your fangs were bared and aimed for my neck. And in the end, you let me live. Why?”

Summary
Beverly stands up, wiping the dirt that’s stuck to the sweat of her legs. She looks at the boys with her hands on her hips and one eyebrow raised. “Look it’s either we go to the beach or we all sit around undergroud waiting for the sun to set and I really, really don’t want to waste a summer day being hot and miserable when we could be eating ice cream on a pier.”
It’s silent in the clubhouse, nothing but the buzz of the insects simmering under the sun. Eddie can feel the heat of Bev’s stare on his face just as burning as if he were under the open sky. He flops backwards on the hammock and sighs, resigned to his fate.
“Fine. Fine! We’ll go to the beach.”
The other Losers sigh in relief and maybe a bit of joy at the thought of some reprieve from the heat. Eddie feels a hand tapping at his knee and he looks down at Richie’s smiling face.
“Don’t worry Eds. If a jellyfish stings you, I can just pee on you. Gets the sting right out.”
Eddie’s groan isn’t loud enough to drown out Richie’s laughing.

“Bullshit dude. In all the years we’ve been going to this thing you haven’t beat me once,” Richie says.
“Yeah? Wanna fucking bet?” Eddie challenges and Richie feels the familiar zap of lightning ricochet up his spine.
Beside him, Stan groans. “We can’t just have a nice time at the carnival, can we?”

Richie looks up to see Eddie staring down at him, hands on his hips and fire in his eyes. There’s a thin sheen of sweat covering his brow, his neck, fuck even the slip of skin between the hem of his shirt and his waistband.
“Uh,” Richie says dumbly. “What?”
Eddie smirks at him. “You’ve been sitting here watching me dance for the past 3 songs. I’ve been waiting for you to get up and ask to dance with me.”

Summary
There’s a little voice in the back of Eddie’s mind, the one that always chides him, that says this is a stupid idea. He’s just prolonging the inevitable. Eventually, they’ll end up in New York and he’ll drop Richie off at the airport so he can go back to LA and Eddie will have to walk back into that house and return to the life he had before he remembered.
“What’d you say, Eds?” Richie asks. He leans across the plastic table with his voice pitched low like he’s whispering a secret.
Eddie wipes his hands on a spare napkin. They’re sticky and he should wash them before they go.
“Okay,” he says. Just saying it out loud makes his chest feel lighter. He nods slowly, a smile breaching his face. “Yeah, okay. Let’s do it.”

After defeating Pennywise, the Losers are ready to go back home, except for Eddie and Richie. They decide to take the long way back: a mini road trip from Derry to New York City with some life changing stops along the way.Series

"What the fuck, Bev?" he asks in a harsh whisper. Beverly sighs, heaving Richie up higher against her as he begins to slip.
"I know. I know!" she says. "I just didn't know where else to take him! I can't bring him home like this. And you know my dad will freak if I bring a boy home. Especially like this."
Like this is drunker than Eddie's ever seen anyone, let alone Richie. He can smell the alcohol seeping out of Richie's pores, something sickly sweet punctuated by the lingering scent of cigarette smoke wafting off both of them. Eddie wrinkles his nose against it, his mouth twisting sourly the closer he nears the two of them.

"New Orleans then?" It's not the first time Armand has suggested it and it won't be the last. But the name from his lips still produces a bitter taste in Louis’ mouth.
"I want to go some place I haven't seen yet," Louis chides, tries to keep some of that bitterness from knocking about in his chest and punching out of his mouth. "I've seen New Orleans, love. I've seen it enough."
