The story starts before the end of their five-year mission. It explores a relationship between Jim and Spock through misunderstandings, emotional pain, some fun and laughter, through to Spock's first pon'farr and after. Add a major surprise, the launch of a new project-that includes other members of the crew-plus McCoy, Sarek and Spock Prime that play major roles in both the project and in Jim and Spock's personal relationship. And it's through their intervention, the story concludes with: unity.
It does include a small scene of violent assault, but I didn't put any warnings about it because it's part of the pon’farr.
