It's a strange thing, to be the only viable source to prove your own history. When Ilya is gone, who will know that he used to walk to school? There are no more pictures left of him standing on the stoop of his apartment by his brother, uniform smartly starched. Who will hold the memory of a red glove, reaching down? “Here he is,” Harris stops them in front of an office door, which is slightly ajar. Harris swings the door open to reveal Shane Hollander.
“Hollander?” Ilya blurts out, unable to hide his surprise. Shane looks the same in a lot of ways, with the same shiny black hair, large brown eyes, and appealing dappling of freckles across his cheeks. He’s wearing a t-shirt, some piece of Ottawa Centaurs merch. Shane Hollander is just as cute as Ilya remembers him to be when they were sending each other heated looks across the gym in Los Angeles.
“You two know each other?” Harris asks, looking between the two of them.
“We were drafted at the same time,” Shane explains quickly.Ilya is traded to Ottawa in 2018 where he finds Shane Hollander working for the Centaurs as the team's nutritionist.
