Max wakes up, and everything is different. There is a flat in Monaco that needs to be paid off. A racing team that seemingly crumbles apart without him. A dog that he has been trying to train. And most importantly, Oscar.
He can only remember the all-consuming feeling of being 22 and in a brand new relationship and his first title fight, but everything points to him being 27 and settled enough to have a spreadsheet with the days of the week he is allowed to have sex on.

5 times things are different, and 1 time Max makes things make sense.

Logically, he knows that there are other people there, he can see them, hear them, knows their names, but the only person that matters is glued to his side, trying his hardest to scream over the music.

It makes his blood boil with something akin to rage and annoyance, and he reads over the scribbled words and guitar riffs twice before deciding that he hates it too much to leave it there for anyone to see his idiotic work.

He tries and fails miserably to try to calm his nerves, but John’s cryptic answers have him on edge. Maybe John’s dad is terribly ill? Or perhaps he is homophobic, and John will introduce him as just a friend, and he is nervous about being caught in the act by his father.

In hindsight, they should have realised the Brianna was different.
Back when they were kids, every single quirk and oddity should have tipped them off. But instead, they just passed it off as Brianna being her odd self. The way that her hair would get caught in the light giving her a bizarre halo, or how animals tended to crowd around her like moths to the light. They should have noticed when Brianna seemed to know things that no five-year-old should or seemed to have answers to questions that not even their parents had.
