Summary
Charles looks good. Very good.
Max almost wants to drool, looking at the fit of the black mock turtleneck Charles is wearing in the picture, the way it seems to stretch over his chest.
But what really gets him is the tender way Charles cradles the puppy in his hand, the low quality robbing him of seeing his face with any clarity. Max knows though that he’s got that soft look on his face, the same one as in the photos of him with that other dog in LA.
This one is so small, though. It’s going straight to his head, seeing Charles’ hand engulf the tiny thing

He glances back at the picture of Charles on his phone — his features softening briefly because it’s Charles — before tucking it back in his pocket to glare at his so-called friends.
“Well, you’re a little bit of an asshole, mate,” Lando says, ever so blunt. He gives Max a brief once over, his brows knitting in what looked to be extreme confusion and even a little judgement before he continues, “And, no offence, but he looks a little too out of your league.”

Are you hard?He hesitates a moment with his thumb over the lock-button on his phone. Max’s last text is the only thing he can see, so bright and insistent that it feels like it burns at Charles’ corneas. He can’t really explain to himself why he’s hesitating, but some part of him wants to see how far Max is willing to take this. It is the same part of him that didn’t understand breaking when he first started karting, only speed. The same part of him that has always found it almost impossible to back down from a challenge if it comes to Max, that has always wanted to push him back, that has made him never want to be the first one on the breaks when they battle on track.
Charles is typing before he can decide if it’s a bad idea or not, heart so far up his throat that it feels like bile.

“Thank you for coming to help me,” Max suddenly speaks up. Charles pauses the video and turns to him. “Of course. Couldn’t let you struggle with this all on your own,” he smiles and watches as Max’s cheeks turn pink.
“Yeah, you’re the best,” he finally shrugs and shoves another spoonful into his mouth.
“Aren’t I, lieveling?” Charles smirks. It’s now or never. Max chokes on his food and widens his eyes at Charles, totally taken aback.OR:Charles finds Max’s notes on every single driver he’s ever raced against. The notes on him are.. particularly interesting.

Because tomorrow, Charles will have to go back to pretending. Charles will have to walk back into the paddock and act like he’s an alpha, like he deserves to be there, deserves to be a Formula 1 driver in a world where omegas are seen as little more than an inconvenience.
But Charles will prove them wrong. He knew he would right from the start, the first day that he got back into a kart after he’d presented, knowing exactly what he would be up against, that the odds would always and forever be stacked against him just because of his biology. He will win. He will become the first omega World Drivers Champion. He will accept his trophy at the gala and he will take the microphone and he will tell the world that he did that, an omega, an equal. He beat a field full of alphas, but more importantly, he beat a society that has tried to tell him from day one that he would never be good enough.

Look, it is not like Charles had much choice. He was not the only one complaining about that, he knew, he lurked around the internet too much to know he was not the only one tired by the fact Max Verstappen wore that stupid Red Bull hat every day.
People were claiming for his help with the matter. They might want to obsess all over Charles’ property and it might have clocked him the wrong way some things he read about Max with his sandy, wild hair. Still. At any rate, Charles could be a bastard, but he was not cruel, if he could give a glimpse of his boyfriend to please them, he could try. It was only fair.
