Summary
Contrary to popular opinion, Jim Hopper did not hate Mike Wheeler. He supposed he understood where that misconception came from, with the way he treated him when he was dating El, but to be fair, he kind of deserved it. But he didn’t hate him. Did he love him? No, but he knew that he made Will happy. Will, his son who he loved, who had been through much more than anyone should ever go through. So if Mike could make Will happy, then Hopper was happy.
He did not, however, expect to be woken up at 1 am by a rain soaked Mike Wheeler standing on his front step.
or
The Wheelers overhear Mike telling Lucas about a date with a boy, they all freak out, and Mike goes to the Byers house in the middle of the night.

Summary
Mike’s weight is usually a comfortable pressure on his chest, not too heavy but just enough to mellow out the frantic buzzing that sometimes inhibits Will’s body on bad nights. He is, however, sharp. This usually proves to be an issue only when Will is trying to wake him from his dead-guy-adjacent sleep and jostles him enough to be poked by a knee or an elbow or a—
“Jesus Christ.”
—a shoulder.
Mike sleeps in. Will suffers.

Summary
In the small town of Hawkins, Indiana in the ’80s, loving each other openly feels impossible. Will is upset that he must hide his relationship with Mike after longing for years and finally finding the strength to come out, terrified of remaining a secret forever, while Mike is haunted by the guilt of hiding his love—and himself.
With prom approaching, and both growing tired of hiding while reluctant to be seen as just friends (at least around the Party—this is the ’80s), they begin to work through their feelings on their own and together, eventually promising not to end their first year of dating in secret.
Mike sees a chance to find the courage he’s been missing and make up for Snowball—and the months he forced Will to stay hidden.
Or
A secret relationship, prom on the horizon, and two boys deciding they’re tired of hiding.
Fluffy Byler with some mild angst. (because of course)

Summary
“Do you want to go home?” He questions, leaning close and voice soft, and Will pauses, before nodding again. Mike lets out a breath, and lets his hand press against Will a little more firmly when he starts to sway in place again. “Okay, let’s go.”
Then he looks up and is met with smug faces, and Mike flushes when he realizes his own hypocrisy.
“I don’t talk like that,” Max recalls, voice high-pitched and overly girly and – Mike definitely doesn’t talk like that.
According to everyone in his life, Mike has a voice reserved just for Will. He tries to figure out what that says about him.
