The thought of someone touching me like that…” His shoulders were hunched tight against his neck, but he didn’t allow his gaze to waver from Zolf’s. “The thing is, for two years I didn’t let anyone touch me other than you, Barnes, and Carter; the latter two barely. And even then it was only for medical checks. I guess I just did too good a job of drilling into my head that getting close to people is dangerous.”
Zolf took his time replying. He’d always told himself to get used to the fact that Oscar might want to go out and sleep with people one day, so it wasn’t a shock to hear him say it aloud. It hurt, hearing him so unsure like this. Stupid as it was, Zolf wanted to protect Oscar from everything. Even things it was impossible to ward against.
“That… sucks.”
