Summary
For Narumi, loving Hoshina was less like a thing he did and more like a thing that happened to him.
He'd hated the swordsman from the moment they met; first because he looked far too much like his older brother, then second because he'd refused his invitation to the First Division. It was a petty, meandering sort of dislike — irrational, instinctive distaste more than anything definitive, and when, exactly, it transformed into something approaching affection would be impossible to say. It was like he woke up one day and just knew, the same way he knew grass was still green and the sky was still blue even after the world went gray.
It wasn't an argument to be had, it was (is) a fact of the world.
Narumi Gen was in love with Hoshina Soushirou, and there wasn't a damn thing he could do about it.
Or; Hoshina and Narumi yearn on opposite ends of the spectrum.
