Summary
“What are you doing?” Enjin asked loud enough that Rudo would hear him.
Rudo jumped at the sound of Enjin’s voice, his hands held out like he was about to karate-chop whoever his scarer was away. He turned around with a panicked look to his red eyes that faded at the corners when he saw it was just Enjin. Relaxing, Rudo slouched in on himself. “Don’t scare me like that, turdface,” Rudo grumbled.
“My question still stands,” Enjin said, placing an elbow on the ledge and perching his cheek on it. “What are you doing?”
“I couldn’t sleep,” Rudo admitted, sighing heavily.

Summary
In the longer stretches on the ground between settlements and towns there were a few safe spaces for travelers to refuel and kick their feet up for a few hours. They were spaced out periodically, all with varying quality and wildly varying services. But this one, the “King’s Inn” was the best one.
…Or so Enjin said.
Or, Team Akuta stays at an inn overnight in the North Ward.

It’s surreal, hearing Enjin sound unsure. Rudo feels like he’s missed a step somewhere, like the world’s shifted a little to the left and he hasn’t been able to right it yet. Enjin, the most confident man he’s ever met, sounds out of his depth.
