And, sure, there were differences. Cremia’s hair was shorter and darker than hers had been, and, whereas Cremia and Romani raised cows, she had raised horses. Most notable, of course, was in their singing. She always sounded like the chiming of bells or tinkling fairy wings, while Cremia and Romani – on the few occasions he had heard them – sounded more like a dying Deku Baba than anything.

The fairy was perceptive, so she noticed when Link would get that way. It was mostly imperceivable moments, things like whenever they had talked to that nice ranchhand lady a few days ago, or when they had traveled the forest that surrounded the poisoned swamp - something about those mundane moments were enough to cause Link to adopt that closed off demeanor, and Tatl didn’t know what.
There were also the times where Link would look up at her and she just knew he was expecting to see someone else there instead.
She always wondered who it might be.
Or Tatl tries to learn more about her traveling companion, with varying degrees of success

“Pity your previous sword couldn’t bear the full might of such power…” Ghirahim sighed, only to grip Sky’s arms with sudden fervor. “But I can, Link. I will grant you more strength than you could ever dream of, and you—you can give me a purpose.”
The thought was appalling. It was blasphemy. It was absurd. Did Ghirahim honestly think he would agree to it? “Never,” he snapped. He would never entertain even the thought of allying himself with such a malicious creature.
For just a blink, Ghirahim’s soft smile faltered, only to be plastered back on.
“It’s only fair, skychild,” he said pleasantly. “You killed my master.” His voice hardened. “I am now your right.”

Or: Sky is ecstatic to be back home, but his hopes are dashed by the reappearance of Ghirahim. The chaos of fighting black-blooded monsters and chasing the shadow is only made worse by a desperate Demon Lord who will do anything it takes to make Sky his master.

“What are you looking for today, ma’am?” Amik asks from behind the counter when the bell on the door announces her arrival. “More yarn?”
(She’s been coming to him almost every morning for months, and still he doesn’t know what her name is.)
“Yes, you know me so well,” her voice always has a sort of…ethereal quality to it that he can never actually describe. It’s like…It’s like if honey and sugar had a baby and named it Kindness, or something, it’s-it’s warm in a way that the sun could never be, even during the hottest of summers, and the smile she gives him wraps around his very soul and comforts it with a hug. “How is business lately?”
“You’re still my only customer!” he calls as she disappears into the many shelves that are lined with every item he could find during his daily walks: string, yarn, leaves, rocks and jewels, sticks, arrows-
“You’re selling bugs now?” her voice echoes from the back of his store. “So many beetles!”
“They’re my favorite!” he shouts back.

Sky carries the Master Sword like a blessing, Time carries it like a wound. Four sees a legend in the First Hero. Time sees a reminder of everything he resents. It would be easier if Sky weren’t so good.
Four is small and quiet. Balanced in a way that feels earned, not gifted. Brave without fanfare. Clever without cruelty. Human enough that Time sometimes forgets he had ever put him on a pedestal, until moments like this, when The Hero of Men looks at Sky like Sky belongs on the pedestal instead.
Time tells himself it doesn’t matter.
He tells himself it’s natural. Sky is senior. Sky is origin. Sky is the first king and the first hero and the first wielder of the blade that has crawled its way into every century like a parasite disguised as salvation. Of course Four would admire him. Time keeps his eyes on the trees. He keeps his breathing even. He keeps his face neutral. Inside, something small and ugly stirs.
