“You don’t what?” Shouyou asks.
Kageyama looks uncomfortable enough to crawl out of his skin. He rubs his knuckles against his chin, roughly, and then tells the floor, “You’re sick, and you’re sad, and I don’t want you to be either of those things.”
Shouyou blinks once, then twice. And then, embarrassingly, he bursts into tears.
They could have played for longer. They deserved to play for longer.
Shouyou doesn’t know why he expected volleyball to be fair. And it’s all the more infuriating because it is the fairest sport in the whole world. Two teams. One net. Six players on each side, none of which get to hold the ball for more than a couple seconds at a time, and those seconds mean everything.
In which Shouyou and Tobio share a meal after the world ends. Or after the match with Kamomedai. It's all a matter of semantics, really.

Magical . I cried with Will, I cried with Mike. I know my bookmarks probably all say the same kind of things but this was so incredibly real.
(The line "I can't eat. I can't sleep. I can't think. I feel like I'm falling apart." woke me up like a sleeper agent – from The Boy by the smashing pumpkins ???! Or maybe it was a coincidence. I loved it either way !!)
