Summary
This is the side of stormchasing that I, as a Skywarn certified spotter, atmospheric science student, and hobbyist stormchaser know. This is the reality of stormchasing.
There is an eclectic, extreme sort of joy in the chaos and reality of Mother Nature, in hunting a storm and predicting its action successfully, of catching a tornado in frame and watching it connect earth and sky with the smell of ozone and a high, whistling wind before plunging into the deepest roar. There is power and awe, shock and nature, respect and a crazed desire for more.
But there is a limit, where the beauty ends. Where the precipice is stood upon, where to be right, to see it, to catch the storm, is to watch in horror knowing that you could only give as much warning as you had time to see.
There is no joy in watching people’s lives torn skyward.
And so I present to you, through this LU prompt week #183, the companion drabble set to Chasing Wind: Chasing Drabbles.

He is eleven when he feels something grind, shift, change inside him, deep in his soul. When he is eleven, suddenly that different is no longer a normal thing.
Shadow is fourteen when he vanishes.

Summary
He is lost, swirling in a sea of failure.
He is cursed, an ill omen, a harbinger of ruin to come.
He is the byproduct of mistake after mistake, the accidental and unprecedented destruction of legends told for centuries.
He is not light and not dark and all churning, uneven gray and faded black, the faint flickers of the moments after twilight consumes the sky, encapsulated into a soul.
He is forsaken by every side in the accursed cycle, accepted by none and unwilling savior to all.
He is all that is left, and he was not in the first place.
He is Shadow, and he can only pray that his mistakes will not be the end of Hyrule.

Summary
Once upon a time, in a kingdom called Hyrule, peace and prosperity reigned among the land, and the people of the realm were happy.
In this kingdom lived a little boy named Link and a little girl named Dot. Now Link was a blacksmith’s boy, and Dot was a princess with the name Zelda, but this did not mean anything to them, because together they were Link and Dot, best friends forever, and they could do anything as long as they had each other.
Perhaps if they had known the cost of being a princess of goddesses and a hero of legend, things would have been different, but they were just Link and Dot, best friends forever, and they would do anything to save those they loved.
As long as they had each other.

Summary
There’s little rhyme or reason to the shifts, and even less to the pattern of which times deserve a hero and which are left to fend for themselves, even with a rising menace in the black blooded monsters and the strange dark creature they’re sort of chasing.
Maybe that’s why the goddess continues to send them back here. Or they’ve landed in the timeline Hylia abandoned, if Legend’s irritated grumbling is to be believed.
Still, there must be a reason that the portals are consistently shuttling them to this desolate Hyrule. Surely there must be. If only they could find it.
Or: Five times the Chain didn’t meet the Hero of Hyrule, and one time that they did.

They could hardly hear each other’s voices over the roaring rain and thunder, but it seemed they shared a single-minded goal of getting the hell out of the weather they’d found themselves trapped in. The bright lightning illuminated their bodies every few moments, followed by closer and closer claps of thunder.

Summary
Caught off-guard in an unfamiliar Hyrule, the Chain soon finds themselves at the center of one big misunderstanding. Now down a member and thrown in prison to boot, the group must use the limited resources they have to get their items back and stage a jailbreak. It sounds easy enough, but as they learn more about the prison and the people within it, they are left with more questions than answers. As things start to spiral around them, its up to the remaining members of the group to figure out just what is going on before it's too late.

Summary
Zelda stands tall at the edge of the cliff.
At her back is the rising light. Above her rests the sky she loves, and beneath her, a horde of foes.
There are far too many of them. Zelda’s no slouch at the art of the blade, but even she can’t handle this army alone. Especially not while Link is away on a quest across eras. Still, the mob of bokoblins below her cannot be left to their own devices.
Zelda smiles, open and warm as the sun. She lifts her sword skyward, reaching out to kindred souls across the ages.
The others answer her call.
