There was the sound of the floorboards shifting at the door, as if someone was putting their weight back and forth between their legs, nervously debating on if they should knock or just walk away.
Shauna took a long deep breath before raising her voice. “Who is it?”If it’s Misty, claiming that she needs to check up on her again for the hundredth time, she’s gonna throw her shoe at her.
The door slowly creaked open as a honey blonde head of hair became visible from behind it.
“Hey.” She waited for Shauna to nod before walking in the room the whole way. “I know that we’re still kind of… angry at each other right now, but-” She swallowed while she quickly looked away before looking back at her, suddenly confident. She’s looking at her in the eyes, her chin is up and her lips are pressed tightly together. “Look. You’re still my best friend, and you have a kid now. And because I know that we’re going to get over this fight eventually, because Jeff isn’t shit. And I wanna be here for you and the little guy.”
AKA, Jackie and wilderness baby live and we get to imagine the consequences of it.
Also the title is a quote from the lyrics of Beside You by Marianas Trench

Fair question! I didn’t go looking for them or anything. Doing some side work for a local moving company (just boring documentation thank god. I’m much too frail for manual labor!!!) and according to my boss it was left behind by a client ‘‘forever ago” and was never claimed. Knowing him that probably means they didn’t deliver it a decade ago and the client never called looking for it. “Strange," he said as he made lazy circles around where Shane was stretching out his thighs.
After a beat, he knew Rozanov was waiting for him to take the conversational bait. “What's strange?"
“We have never been on the same side of the blue line before."
He was bracing for a chirp, so this plain statement threw him off. "Yeah, I guess.”
"Do you think they know?”
"That we're on the same team?”
"That we're going to destroy them.” Rozanov stalled his restless circles to lock eyes with Shane, and the whole arena fell away. "You and me, we will be incredible.”
Or, Shane and Ilya are not soulmates, they just have really, really good sex.
