Summary
Ilya Rozanov's life was busy, boring, and most of the time exhausting. He had too much to do, and usually not quite enough hours in the day to get it all done.
So when he starts visiting a new coffee shop and sees the cute barista—strong, handsome, genuine, and freckled—he notices. Without even planning for it, his routine changes when he can’t help but be fascinated by Shane’s long work hours, strict routines, and reckless disregard for his own safety.
Shane Hollander makes him Americanos. He blushes and stutters and stammers his way through their interactions. He’s wound so tightly that Ilya can’t help but want to unravel him.

Summary
Shane Hollander works at a coffee shop, plays hockey, keeps his head down, and doesn’t ask questions he doesn’t need the answers to.
So when a new regular starts showing up—quiet, watchful, Russian-accented, and conducting invitation-only meetings in the back—Shane notices. When that same man takes an unsettling interest in Shane’s closing shifts, his routines, and his safety, Shane does what feels sensible: he adjusts his behavior and keeps his mouth shut.
Ilya Rozanov orders an Americano. He reads, but only in Russian. He worries when people work late alone.
They are operating with very different definitions of danger.
If he didn’t ask questions, he couldn’t be lied to.

The video was shaky, thirty seconds captured in the pulsing lights of the concert—and there he was, larger than life on the Jumbotron, looking absolutely wrecked, his glasses sliding down his face and freckles standing out against his flushed cheeks, swaying to the Spanish lyrics as they took him away like he didn't have a care in the world.
He looked like an idiot. A drunk, happy idiot.
"Oh god," Shane groaned, letting his arm drop back over his face. "Please tell me that's not—"
"Three million views and counting," Rose interrupted gleefully. "The caption says 'TikTok do your thing, who is this beautiful drunk man in glasses?' There are like fifty thousand comments trying to track you down."

Summary
Shane gets approximately ten minutes of feeling blissful and content after Ilya Rozanov leaves his apartment-
-and then he has to bolt to the bathroom to get ill with a violence he hasn’t experienced since he was still conditioning for the season as a rookie.
In the aftermath, he runs a cold washcloth over his face while swishing his mouth out and tries to convince himself that it had to have just been something he ate.
He wonders if he should text Rozanov and give him a warning, but having to send a, “Thanks for taking my virginity, by the way I just puked my guts up and you might have caught whatever this is from me” doesn’t really seem like it’s a very sexy follow-up text to get from someone. As a “congrats on getting fucked” present to himself in honor of the occasion, he decides he’ll chalk it up to the sudden release of nerves and only send the text if it lasts past the night.
(shane is EXTREMELY sensitive to nicotine) (the problem with this? he isn't actually aware of it and thus doesn't understand why fucking ilya rozanov sometimes makes him sick afterwards)
