Alhaitham inhaled slowly, allowing Kaveh’s scent to envelop his senses as his body tingled with something unfamiliar - tense and anticipatory. It was as though the vein beneath Kaveh’s soft skin was calling out Alhaitham’s name, beckoning him in with a powerful lull like a siren’s song.
Kaveh didn’t flinch as the tips of Alhaitham’s fangs came to rest hesitantly on his throat, and with one final, resolute breath, he gave in. Thumb caressing the other side of Kaveh’s neck as he held him in place, Alhaitham punctured his skin with a gentle bite.

He undoes the latch on the door and lets it swing open, fully expecting to see the bearded face of his landlord only to be met with the vermillion-eyed face of somebody he had given up hope on seeing for the rest of his life.
There’s a long moment of silence. The aching swell of Vivaldi in the background and the rushing in his ears like the ocean waves.
“...Kaveh?”
Kaveh, globally-renowned musician, disappears off the face of Teyvat. Five years later, he shows up outside of Al-Haitham's door with no explanation but to ask for a bed to sleep in.
It's fine. They only have thirteen years of history, after all.

He might have neglected Kaveh for a bit. True. But who could judge him? Do you know how many books he missed out on while being the Acting Grand Sage?

“I won’t…” Kaveh tried to say, but speaking was taking far more strength than he had at the moment. His blinks were getting longer, and Azar’s image was getting fuzzy around the edges. It wasn't fair—he still had so much he needed to do.
…
So where’s the rest?
Alhaitham stared at the blank ending page, seeing nothing about a continuation like the past three books had. He flipped through the book again, just in case somehow in his binge reading he missed something that told him the next book would be delayed, the author was on a hiatus, or that something was going to happen at all, but there was nothing.
Really? That was it? What an unsatisfying ending!
Alhaitham gets up to do something about this frustration, but during his late night jog, he ends up finding himself in the mysterious nation of Teyvat right outside Sumeru City. Now, he might actually have the power to do something and help his favorite character, Kaveh, get the happy ending he deserves.

Siraj, who's had his sights on Alhaitham for a long time, makes the most of it. His victim is a heartbroken and alone Kaveh - victim in every mature and explicit sense.
Alhaitham returns, Cyno chases and punishes, and Tighnari holds the entirety of their once friendship on his shoulders, while Baizhu helps Kaveh to put the pieces of his mind and soul back together.

Instead, he’s getting interrogated by an amateur kidnapper who won’t take no for an answer, playing chess with the same amateur who definitely has ulterior motives, and realizing that, maybe, he’s stumbled headfirst into a conspiracy way above his pay grade.
Oh, and the not-so-amateur kidnapper? He’s everywhere.

“Alhaitham doesn’t have red eyes.”
For a moment he hoped that the person in front of him would prove him wrong, that there was an explanation for it. That there was something that he could say that would explain everything, but as he watched the impostor’s expression slowly shift into one that he knew Alhaitham would never make, Kaveh knew with dreadful certainty that it wasn’t the case.
“He doesn’t?” The man said, his voice that once was an exact match to Alhaitham’s was slightly distorted, edging on something otherworldly, “Fuck!”
OR
Broke from building the Palace of Alcazarzaray, Kaveh lands himself a job working as the doorman for an apartment complex near the Akademiya as an in-between to pay back his debts. Consequentially becoming infatuated with a resident of the building Alhaitham, he swore not to act on it but everything changed once the Akademiya started employing new suspicious safety regulations. Finally seeing Alhaitham after he went missing for a few days, he finds that the man he is met with looks entirely like him in documents and appearance if it only weren't for his crimson red eyes.

Where was he? Kaveh didn’t know. He didn’t remember. Everything from meeting with the Grand Sage regarding a supposed project in the desert until just now, when Kaveh had woken up in that barren room, feeling like he had been wrung dry for seemingly no reason - it was all a blank to him. It was as if there was a large void in his brain right where those months Alhaitham said he’d been gone were supposed to be and Kaveh had absolutely no idea why.
Where was Kaveh?
Aka, in which Kaveh had been in Sumeru City all along, playing the part of favourite test subject to Azar while Alhaitham was busy out saving the world.
