“He’s gonna blow all the other kindergarteners out of the water in the fall,” she says. Blake’s smile turns into a grin.
“It’s not a competition,” she murmurs, despite the pride blooming in her chest.

Summary
Vale is a lawless land, but the people have Patch have created a haven within the chaos. For 14 years of Yang's life, everything is great.
Until a group of outlaws unlike any other show up and ruin it all. They kill her parents, take over the town, instilling fear and violence into those who have only known nothing but peace. Forced to adapt, she grows up too fast to survive and keep her little sister safe. She makes deals with the shady folk and learns to keep the attention on herself so that others may find some semblance of peace.
But as she has learned before, it only takes one day for it to come crumbling down.
In an effort to protect Ruby, Yang takes the fall for her. Execution by drowning in a river, left with nothing but vengeance in her heart for the people that ruined everything for her.
She expects to die. And she does.
But when a mysterious voice promises to save her and all it'll take is her already damned soul to do it? Well...
How bad can it be?
Yang dies when she is 18. And she is 18 when her life changes forever. (But for the better or the worse?)
