If this was a dream, it was too vivid. If it was a second chance, it was a heavy one.
His gaze returned to the mountain of trash bags. It was a monument to his life: piled up, rotting, ignored, and uselessly stinking up the place. He’d treated his existence like a hand of cards he was waiting to fold.
"Alright," he whispered to the empty, filthy room. "Fine."

So it’s not exactly a shock when he opens his mouth, blue eyes sparkling from behind dark sunglasses (and it’s odd that he’s chosen to wear his glasses here instead of his blindfold; odd to know that Six Eyes trusts him in some weird, skewed way for the simple fact that they both care for a child who deserves more than Toji can give him) and says: “I want you to teach at Jujutsu Tech.”
It’s not a shock, because Gojo has said more ridiculous things with a straighter face than the one that resides on his features now. Toji throws his head back and laughs.
Gojo does not.
“Oh,” says Toji. “You’re not joking.”

Because standing in the very not-destroyed, dense streets of Shibuya, lined with the bright colors of department stores, hotels, tourist attractions, and advertisements plastered across every available space, Yuuji did not have Choso as support. He didn't have Fushiguro as support. He didn't even have Okkotsu as support.
Yuuji was inconceivably, utmostly, wholly, not-awesomely fucked because he was in the year 2005.
🔴 OR: Stuck over a decade in the past, Yuuji has resolved to do anything to ensure his future doesn't come to be.
It would really be a lot easier if Geto Suguru wasn't so overbearing, if Gojo Satoru wasn't such an asshole, if Ieiri Shoko stopped instigating things, and if Yuuji were just a tiny bit smarter.
But, he was on his own, so damn it if he wasn't going to work with what he got.

Summary
On January 1st, 2009, approximately around 8 PM, Itadori Yuuji is reported as missing. No one could recall the last sightings of the pink-hair child having had wandered around the festival or played at the shooter stall as his grandfather, Wasuke, claimed.
It's been weeks since Yuuji has went missing, and Wasuke knows who is responsible for his missing grandson. Yet, he cannot do anything except just wait and wait for any news just like how he waited on the news of his own missing son and daughter in law years prior. His mind goes mad with the possibilities of what could have happened to his grandson just like his own son. He doesn't want to be alone any more, and any confirmation - even if it's his own grandson's passing can bring him some peace of mind.
A few days later, in the dead of the night, the Itadori house phone rings.
