It's far too easy to tie how Sasuke talks about Konoha, to the world as it is right now, built on far too much war, hatred, an corruption. It's hard to want to live here, hard to want to study to become a good member of society, it's hard not to want to simply just--leave. Leave everyone you know, because it all feels far too much, and far too not worth it to stay, no matter how much you love everyone and everything you've grown up with. To leave it and go work on some farmland in the countryside, where nobody knows you, wander around and pray that the kindness from strangers will be enough to survive.
I unfortunately understand exactly where Sasuke is coming from--or rather, leaving for, but I am also painfully aware how cruel he's being, no matter how justified his departures are. Let's both work on our avoidant tendencies, yeah?
I'm personally a believer of some sort of meeting in the middle, not sure what exactly yet, but I don't think Sasuke should have to stay in, and forgive the place that ordered the massacre of his entire clan, no matter how much Naruto believes in Konoha's potential for change, but I think this fic did a good job of selling this version of their ending too. -

so many things about this fic hit perfectly, kakashi and sasuke parallels on staying despite all konoha has taken from them, naruto who's trying his hardest in this slow revolution, sakura who's grown so well and the most valuable asset. god i love.
Everything he and Kakashi and Sakura and the rest of their academy class are doing to make the village a better place, a different place than the one they were raised in. This nascent revolution will die with them if they can’t break the patterns of abuse that continue to shape their lives. -
