“Thomas? Are you alright? We don’t have to do this, you know.”
“Yes, of course” he says. “I do want to be here with you. I’m merely trying not to…spoil the evening.”
Alison smiles at him and caresses his cheek, thumb gently stroking his high cheekbone.
“You’re very sweet, but that’s not something you need to worry about.”
“Oh, but you deserve the very best.”
He takes her hand in his and kisses the back of her hand, and then her wrist.
“You deserve to be worshipped—”
Then the crook of her elbow. She shivers.
“—by someone who knows how.
He kisses her shoulder.
“But I am not that person.”
Then her neck.
“I have no experience.”
He presses a tender kiss to the spot where her ear meets her jaw. Thomas pulls away.
“I’d only let you dow—”
Alison cuts him off with a kiss of her own.
