Steve said that every time someone tried to win a war before it started, innocent people died. When Tony found out that Steve and Nat lied to him for years about his parents' death, well... there are many ways a war can end before it starts. And some of them are less deadly but more painful than others. If they were going to hide his parents' murder, he was going to burn their lives down.

Azure_K_MelloRight now, I’m watching the video over and over to deaden me to it. I need to fully accept that it happened. He was brainwashed. That’s a HYDRA hit. If I met him right now, I’d try to kill the bastard and he hasn’t done anything. So, I’m watching it and changing B.A.R.F. to deprogram him. Then, step three, I have a press conference where I paint him as a national hero in need of help, I find him before Steve, I fix his brain, I tell him the messed-up thing Steve has done and I get him on our team. Because Steve is dead to me and I’m stealing his best friend. He’s our friend now. He’s getting a whole new arm. He’s getting a new life.”
