The Labyrinth is old. Far older than Tommy or anyone else within its walls.
They were taught its history as one of their lessons.
The Labyrinth is a sort of oligarchy. The instructors and agents have a say in what they do, within reason and consequence. The originals died long ago, but they picked their replacements and those replacements picked theirs; nobody ever sees them again after they’ve been picked; They have their own wing of the Labyrinth, and they never leave.
