Chapter 1: First Impression

Chapter Text

The Seoul skyline stretched before (Y/N) like a canvas of ambition. She had traded the landscape, the memories of (H/T), for the neon-lit streets of South Korea’s bustling capital. Her heart fluttered with equal parts of excitement and trepidation as she stepped off the plane.

Moonlight Enterprises awaited her—a name whispered in corporate corridors, a behemoth of glass and steel. (Y/N)’s transfer had been swift, fueled by a desire to escape memories that clung like stubborn vines. She had left behind a past that threatened to consume her, seeking refuge in the anonymity of Seoul.

The taxi ride from Incheon Airport was a blur of city lights and unfamiliar signs. (Y/N) wanted something new. A new, exhilarating adventure in life. Leaving her dull, meaningless self behind and ready to have a fresh start. She wondered how she’d fit into the monochrome world of suits and deadlines.

The lobby of Moonlight Enterprises was pristine—marble floors, potted plants, and a receptionist who smiled as if she held the company’s secrets. (Y/N) adjusted her blazer, her heart racing. She had researched the CEO—the elusive Kim Namjoon—whose decisions rippled through boardrooms and stock markets.

As the elevator ascended, (Y/N) rehearsed her introduction. She was here to make a mark, to prove that her unconventional background—how she was like in her hometown, her previous jobs, and her prior life-could thrive in the corporate jungle.

The doors slid open, revealing a corridor lined with glass offices. (Y/N)’s heels clicked against the polished floor as she followed the receptionist. She wondered if Namjoon’s office - the throne room where decisions were forged - was at the end of this hallway.

And then she saw him.

Framed by the city’s glittering panorama, Kim Namjoon stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, his tailored suit emphasizing his broad shoulders as he kept his gaze fixed on the horizon. His hair, a shade of midnight, hinted at sleepless nights and unspoken burdens.

(Y/N)’s breath hitched. She had expected a stern face, a man carved from ambition. Instead, Namjoon’s eyes held a vulnerability—an ache that mirrored her own. He turned as she approached, and for a moment, the world narrowed to their shared silence.

“Miss (L/N),” he said, his voice a low rumble. “Welcome to Moonlight Enterprises.”

His grip was firm, his touch lingering. (Y/N) wondered if he saw the colors hidden beneath her professional facade—the poetry etched into her skin, the dreams she dared not speak aloud.

“Your reputation precedes you,” Namjoon said, studying her. “(H/T)’s loss is Seoul’s gain.”

She smiled, masking the tremor within. “I hope to contribute something unique.”

Namjoon’s gaze lingered, and (Y/N) wondered if he saw the fire in her eyes—the same fire that burned within him. They were two souls navigating the same corporate labyrinth, seeking solace in a world that demanded conformity.

As (Y/N) settled into her new role, she vowed to unravel the enigma of Kim Namjoon—the CEO who lived a life of solitude. Perhaps, in the quiet moments between spreadsheets and coffee breaks, they’d discover that loneliness could be shared, and love could bloom even in the shadows of glass towers.

(Y/N) saw in his deep, hypnotizing monolid eyes that Namjoon held deep, dark secrets. Secrets that he dare not speak aloud. Secrets that some would call twisted. But (Y/N) wanted to know more. She wanted to be the one for Namjoon to release those secrets. Release the hidden thoughts that linger in his brain.

“You will contribute something unique here, (Y/N). It’s nice to have you on board at Moonlight Enterprises. Your office desk is not far from this room. It says your name on the tag, you should find it relatively quickly.” Namjoon informed (Y/N) as she stood up to leave the office, still having an odd feeling inside of her that Namjoon was watching her. Like a hawk that found its prey. Where Namjoon is the hawk, and (Y/N) is a small creature. Just waiting for the CEO to strike.

Once (Y/N) shut the door behind her, Namjoon had time to think in his mind. ‘I just met the new employee. But she sparked something inside of me. Like if I just want to devour her.’ He couldn’t get those thoughts out of his head. So to distract himself from (Y/N), and her body he couldn’t help but be in awe, so he started working on his work. Hoping that’ll clear his thoughts.

A few hours after (Y/N)’s initial meeting with Namjoon, the atmosphere in Moonlight Enterprises was charged with anticipation. Jeon Jungkook, the youngest employee in charge of handling the company’s international expansion, found himself standing before Namjoon in his office. Jungkook’s expression was serious, his tone professional as he addressed the CEO.

“Mr. Namjoon, may I have a moment of your time to discuss a matter of importance?” Jungkook asked, his voice steady.

Namjoon, who had been reviewing reports on his desk, looked up with a slight furrow in his brow. “Of course, Jungkook. What is it?”

“I couldn’t help but notice the way you interacted with Miss (L/N) earlier today,” Jungkook began, choosing his words carefully. “It’s evident that you have taken a particular interest in her.”

Namjoon’s demeanor remained composed, though a flicker of surprise crossed his features. “I assure you, Jungkook, my interactions with Miss (L/N) are purely professional.”

Jungkook nodded, his gaze unwavering. “I understand, sir. However, as the one overseeing Moonlight’s international expansion, I believe the team dynamics must be transparent. If any personal inclinations might affect our operations, it’s best to address them openly.”

Namjoon regarded Jungkook thoughtfully, his expression guarded. “I appreciate your candidness, Jungkook. Rest assured, my focus remains steadfast on the goals of Moonlight Enterprises.”

Jungkook nodded in acknowledgment. “Understood, Mr. Namjoon. I trust your judgment in all matters concerning the company.”

As Jungkook excused himself from Namjoon’s office, a knowing glint in his eyes did not go unnoticed by the CEO. Namjoon pondered the implications of Jungkook’s observation, his thoughts returning to (Y/N)—the enigmatic new employee who had stirred something within him. Something dark.
