Chapter 1: Two Swords

Chapter Text

Your feet were pounding into the dirt floor. Your breath was coming to you harder and harder. The fear was pressing around you, making your feet stumble and the air feel like water. You sobbed out a breath as you collapsed behind a jagged rock, pressing your back against it as hard as you could and putting your hands over your mouth in an attempt to quiet your breaths. You could hear them calling out into the woods, jeering, laughing. Tears spilled over your eyes, heart slamming against your ribcage so loud you feared they might hear it.

“Oh, you’re fast aren’t you,” his voice was so close. About ten feet from your left, you dared not move, breathe, make a sound.

“Not fast enough,” His hand was in your hair, yanking you from behind the rock.

“Found her,” the boy hollered through the mostly empty woods, dragging you by the hair as you kicked and screamed.

“Please, please, please don't do this,” you sobbed, chest heaving. He didn't pay you any mind. His friend met him halfway.

“There you are,” his hand was rough against your skin, fingers closing around your face forcing you to look at him.

“You’d be so much prettier cleaned up. But we don't have time for that.” His foot slammed into the ground, his hands lifting up in the same motion and the floor came up from beneath you to close your arms out to either side of you, your feet secured to the floor. You were trembling so hard, hair falling in dirty tendrils around your face. They ripped your clothes from your body, leaving them in clumps around you.

The taller one played with your chest, eyes drinking you in, like a lion in front of its prey. You kept screaming, hoping to the moon and stars that someone could hear you.

“Should we cover her mouth?” One of them asked as he slipped his robes down, pumping himself slowly as he looked at you. The other smirked, hands going down to feel through your folds. You gagged, and wished that lightning would strike through you before you had to endure any more.

“Nobodies gonna hear her this far out, plus, I kind of like it.” Your sobs shook your whole body as they groped you, hands trying to find reprieve in the unforgiving rock surrounding your wrists. You cursed the moon, the stars, the world.

His finger went into you, searching, explorative. You felt cold, clammy, wondered how long it would take for you to pass out if you just held your breath. Not fast enough for them to have done enough.

“Please,” a branch snapped not far from you. You hoped to see a beast, something that could devour you entirely and leave only bones. Whatever animal lived in these woods would be more forgiving than these monsters. Instead you found a man, a boy, really. He was running forwards and you had the terrifying thought that maybe he wanted to join in. Two long swords appeared in his hands and your assailants turned too late. They backed up, hands up in the air, eyes wide. The red clothed boy stood in front of you, swords up. He was protecting you. His face had been obscured by shadows and all you saw now was the back of his head, jet black hair, and red robes.

“Hey man, we’re not here for trouble.” The first one spoke but you saw his foot slide behind him, his hands bracing. The boy noticed this too, moving forwards as the ground beneath him lifted. Your vision was obscured by the new rock that stood before you, but you could hear shouting, and then silence. You heard him come around to you and then flinched as the butt of the sword began to crack into the stone holding you up. He didn't speak, only grunted behind you in effort until both your hands were finally free, and you collapsed.

Dark start but I swear it gets better.
